Your responsibilities
At Helvengo, our vision is to empower entrepreneurs in taking bold moves with more confidence. 
This was the reason why we set out in 2020 to rethink how small business risks are identified and covered through forward thinking insurance and become the number one insurance partner for entrepreneurs and small and medium sized companies in Europe. 

As we are entering the next growth phase, we are now building up a team in Porto, Portugal and are therefore looking for a Software Engineer who will join our team and make our vision come true. 

This role will be based in Porto, Portugal. 


Our Stack

  • Backend – .Net5.0, GraphQL (Node.js could become an option)
  • Frontend – React, JsonForms, ESLint, GraphQL (Redux could become an option)
  • Database – Postgressql, Neo4j or MongoDB could become an option.
  • DevOps – AWS (EKS, ECR), Bitbucket Pipelines, Docker, Kafka/RabitMQ, Keycloak
  • Methodologies – Microservices, DDD, Product Increments (w/ Agile Scrum)


What we are looking

  • A talent who wants to grow professionally as Full-Stack or in one of the specific area Frontend/Backend/DevOps.
  • Work with product owners and designers on spec'ing delightful features
  • Take ownership of components and business domains over time
What you need to succeed
  • MSc or BSc in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with at least two of the above technologies.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, self-starter attitude, comfortable working independently with minimal supervision and a high degree of freedom
  • A growth mindset, agile approach to problem-solving, outstanding analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent in English (German a plus)

About our hiring process

As part of our hiring process, we would like to ensure that you get the chance to learn as much about our company, its culture and the people as possible. This is why you can expect the following process: 

  1. A short call with HR to check on expectations and general fit
  2. A small online challenge that you will be doing by yourself.
  3. An in-depth technical interview with your hiring manager where we follow-up on your challenge as well as an in-depth interview with the HR Manager.
